Have you ever noticed the lack of women in the automotive industry? Well, in 1995, Lorraine Schultz realized just this and founded the Women’s Automotive Association International (WAAI) dedicated to the development and advancement of women as leaders in the automotive industry.
As the automotive industry’s leading professional organization or women, WAAI provides women the support and education they need to become leaders.
It wasn’t long ago that the auto industry was completely dominated about men. However, because of the work of leaders like Lorraine Schultz and the WAAI, women are playing an increasing role in the auto industry. Not only are more women becoming mechanics and working at car dealerships, women are getting more involved in car buying decisions as well. According to research, women make up more than 50% of the automotive market and spend an estimated $80 billion a year on new cars.
On this episode of Vehicle Vibes Radio, host Marcia Hansen will be speaking to Lorraine about WAAI and the growing role of women in the auto industry. In addition to working at car shops and dealerships, there are many opportunities for women to work with cars behind the scenes. Lorraine is a strong believer in female empowerment so this conversation is sure to be insightful. So join Marcia in her interview with Lorraine Schultz from WAAI.
