Starting a magazine is a difficult task to say the least, but for Courtney Caldwell, a woman with a passion for cars, starting a magazine in a male dominated industry was especially challenging but extremely rewarding.
Courtney is the founder of Road & Travel Magazine, the first magazine to focus on helping women make informed decisions on automotive, travel and safety issues. Prior to launching Road and Travel Magazine, Courtney was a single mother of two with a passion for muscle cars and taking road trips. As the sole financial decision-maker, Courtney became frustrated with the disrespectful treatment she and other women were receiving at dealerships. In 1989, inspired by her passion to improve the quality of treatment to women, Courtney launched Road & Travel Magazine to empower women and help them make intelligent about all issues auto-related.
In 1997, Courtney launched the International Car of the Year Awards (ICOTY), which has become the largest awards show in the auto industry and continues to serve as the executive producer and host of the awards show each year.
