While auto crashes have declined in the past few years, there are still an average of 40,000 crash fatalities every year, according the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This year’s fifth annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report TM” recognized Alexandria, VA for “America’s Most Improved Driving City.” Sioux Falls, SD was named the American city with the safest drivers for the fourth consecutive year.

- Chattanooga, Tenn.
- Cedar Rapids Iowa
- Knoxvile, Tenn.
- Fort Wayne, Ind.
- Lexington-Fayette, Ky.
- Eugene, Ore.
- Boise, Idaho
- Colorado Springs, Colo.
The “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report TM” ranks America’s 200 largest city in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers, according to Allstate data.
